CILP Cover Service

This service is aimed at collectors who wish to obtain cancelled CILP stamps and pictorial postmarks on personally stamped and self-addressed covers previously sent to the CILP, and pre-orders for First Day Issue covers (FDC) and First Day Issue postcards.

All service charges (excluding shipping) will be used to finance new stamp  production, maintaining our website and associated services, and to ensure CILP's viability for the future.

 

How Do I Get Personally Addressed Cancelled Covers?

There are two service options, 'A' and 'B'.

Service Option ‘A’ :

Standard c.d.s. and First Day Issue cancellations, and Pictorial Postmarks on SSAE personal covers

You should prepare a self-addressed envelope(s) and affix a UK postage stamp of your choice which is sufficient for the size and weight of the envelope(s) you are sending.

Please note, there is a maximum of two CILP stamps allowed per envelope due to space restrictions, and to ensure it complies with Royal Mail postal regulations.

If your order includes a First Day Issue cancellation, please ensure your cover reaches us at least 10 days before the new stamp issue date.

Read our Service Fees below to ensure you understand the fees we will charge. We only accept payment via PayPal.

Instruct us by email as to which CILP stamp(s) you wish to be affixed to your envelope(s). Use CILP reference numbers as shown on our ‘Collector Checklist’ page.

We will then confirm we accept your order and advise you where to send your cover(s) and provide an Order Reference Number, and an estimate of the service fees.

Please email the CILP Cover Service when you send  your packet containing your envelope(s). Include a note to confirm which CILP stamps you would like to be affixed to your cover(s) using CILP reference numbers as requested above, and your Order reference Number.

When we receive your covers, CILP will send you an email invoice listing the actual service fees due and advise where to send your payment. Please pay by PayPal (no account is required).

Once we have received your payment, we will service your covers and send a confirmation email.

Your covers will then be returned via CILP and onward to the Royal Mail postal service (unless you have selected Service ‘B’).

 

Service Option ‘B’ :

Standard c.d.s. and First Day Issue cancellations and Pictorial Postmarks on  personal covers supplied to us

As for Service ‘A,’ but you do not need to affix Royal Mail stamps to your covers unless you wish to.

Your covers will be serviced and returned under separate cover through the Royal Mail postal service.

This will be done using Royal Mail Tracked 48 service and has the advantage of protecting your cover(s) from damage sometimes inflicted on mail by Royal Mail sorting machines.

This method has an additional fee for the Tracked 48 service.


How Do I Pre-Order FDCs and/or FDI Postcards?


Service Option ‘C’ :

Pre-Order Official First Day Covers and First Day Issue Postcards

You may pre-order new FDCs and FDI Postcards when scheduled for release. Contact us at the address below at least 10 days before the issue date, and request the FDC/FDI Postcard you require.

We will then confirm we accept your order and provide an Order Reference Number and include an email invoice listing the actual service fees due and advise where to send your payment. Please pay by PayPal (no account is required).

You may cancel your order at anytime up to the actual issue date and a full refund will be made.

Your covers will be serviced and returned under separate cover via CILP and  onward through the Royal Mail postal service. This will be done using Royal Mail Standard 2nd Class service (UK), or Standard International service. Tracked shipping available on request. This method has an additional shipping fee - see Service Fees below.

FDC Cover (£1), 1 new issue stamp (£1), Cover Service (£1.50), UK Standard Shipping under separate cover (£1.55), Total = £5.05 

 

You Need To Know

Your personally addressed serviced covers will be carried by CILP and sent to you via the Royal Mail through their postal system (Service ‘A’), or returned under separate cover (Service ‘B’ and Service 'C').

We will endeavour to service and deposit your covers with the Royal Mail within 4 working days of the issue/service date.

CILP will only service your covers after receipt of payment.

Serviced covers returned under separate cover by CILP will be sent by UK Royal Mail Tracked 48 service in the UK, and by International Tracked service overseas (shipping fee applies). Orders that exceed the shipping weights shown below, will attract additional cost and we will let you know by email invoice.

CILP accepts no responsibility for covers lost or damaged within the UK postal service or international post carriers, either sent to us, or despatched by us.

 

Service Fees

The following fees apply in addition to the price of CILP stamps selected

1. First Serviced Cover = £1.50 (including FDCs and FDI Postcards)

2. Second and subsequent Serviced Covers = £1 each

3. Cost of FDC/FDI Postcard = £1 each

4. Returning your personal UK Stamped and Self-Addressed covers through Royal Mail service = Nil

5. Returning FDCs, FDI Postcards and/or personalised Serviced Covers under standard untracked separate cover:

UK  - Standard 2nd class (up to 100g)  = £1.55 (Tracked 48 £2.80)

EU - Standard International (up to 100g) = £3.40 (Tracked £8.10)

USA Standard International (up to 100g) = £4.20 (Tracked £8.10) 

Canada Standard International (up to 100g) = £4.20 (Tracked £8.10) 

Australia/NZ - Standard Int. (up to 100g) = £4.20 (Tracked £10.75) 

(Tracked shipping available on request. All rates set by the Royal Mail). 

6. All Customs fees, taxes or charges imposed by receiving destination authorities are the responsibility of the customer.


Coverage

Service Option 'A' and 'B' are currently only available to UK addresses.

Service Option 'C' is available worldwide.

 

Guarantee

You may cancel your order at anytime up to the actual service or cover issue date and a full refund will be made.*

If we consider a cover has been mis-struck or spoilt by cancellations applied by us, we will not charge for the service or the CILP stamps used. The cover will be returned to you and our fees for the affected item will be refunded.*

If you are not satisfied with any Serviced Cover we return to you, and you notify us within 14 days of the cancellation date on the cover, we offer a no quibble guarantee to refund the fees for the cover(s) affected including CILP stamps.*

* (This excludes any packing materials, envelopes and Royal Mail postage stamps or printed postage labels used by you. And damage caused in the Royal Mail postal system to covers which is beyond our control).
